Bitcoin traded up 1.6% at $78,277 24 hours after the 2026 US midterm election results were confirmed, following an initial brief price dip.

James Butterfill, head of research at CoinShares, characterised the move as a relief rally after election uncertainty cleared. André Dragosch, head of research at Bitwise Europe, stated the Democratic midterm sweep was largely priced into crypto markets ahead of the vote.

Polymarket data shows the market for Democratic Senate control resolved on 4 November, settling near 100% on $17.1M of volume.

Analysts confirmed macroeconomic factors including Federal Reserve policy remain the primary driver of Bitcoin price action.
